The colours can be alternated by simply pressing in the contrast wheel, while the brightness can be adjusted by scrolling the contrast wheel.
Push in the contrast wheel and hold for a couple of seconds to access the menu to adjust the alignment, pixel mode, etc. You can then use the contrast wheel to navigate the options. Press the contrast wheel again to select the desired option.
